Ibiza by night meets Marina Karamarko!
Ibiza by night meets Marina Karamarko.
Marina (in the pictures below) is a Croatian dj, producer and audio engineer. Marina plays since 2005, then in April 2015 founded the label ThanQ Music. She plays deep tech and and landed in Ibiza since 2013.
Currently, Marina has important projects also with the team of Unusual suspects Ibiza.
Ibiza by night met her and discovered a really interesting artist…
IBN: Marina & ibiza: how started the story? (we must start from Ibiza)
Marina:”Summer 2013 was my first time I landed on Ibiza through Burn residency program and although I did not won, I was noticed by David Vincent, Sankeys owner and he gave me a chance to play there and have a residency with VivA Warriors crew and for that experience and opportunity I will be forever grateful! Since then I’ve been a regular visitor, with two full summer seasons on the Island.“
IBN: What means for an artist work in Ibiza?
Marina: “I feel it’s all about the love for music, like-minded people from all over the world connecting on this special Island. For an Artist it super nice because everyday you can meet someone who is a part of music industry and can maybe help you go into direction you imagined for yourself. From another point, for me even more important, is that you have the opportunity to play for people from all around the world, literally.“
IBN: Let’s talk about you now. when you started to play, tell us your story
Marina: “My Journey started around 2005 playing some tunes for people who were drinking coffee at the college I was going to. Before that I was just going to parties nearby and watching the djs control the crowd and I was fascinated with that. I wasn’t thinking to start playing but It just somehow happened, life pushed me into that direction and I thought ok, I can try and then instantly fell in love. I was always into music, playing piano as a kid, playing guitar as a teenager, always loving gadgets and hi-tech stuff, loved first computers I encountered, so DJ equipment was very appealing to me. I was naturally drawn to it. My first real gig in a club was in front of 1500 people and seeing all those hands in the air, I think I was then forever hooked. It just felt so amazing, to play the music for the people and get their amazing feedback, just Wow. It’s like a drug I guess and from then I’ve been chasing that feeling all around the world 🙂 ”
IBN: outside the white island: which are your plans
MARINA:”Work hard play harder 😀 I must say I’m bad in planning things, my style is more go with the flow, but I do have a plan to do a second USA tour this march and my first Columbia tour is taking shape so I’m hoping that will happen if everything connects nicely. I also plan to push some more focus into my label THANQ, bringing even more quality but unknown artists to the light, making a anniversary event like every year, and Like always I plan to work harder in the studio and make some new tunes and get the tunes I already have out on some cool labels.”
IBN:Ibiza 2017…are your ready???
MARINA: “I’m extremely happy I was a part of Unusual suspects party this summer, really like their concept and the artists involved, so I was really happy I got to present my sound there also. David Vincent again had a good ear and a good vision and said to them to check me out. As they told me, they really enjoyed my style and for the season 2017 you can definitely expect me coming back to play for them and to be stronger part of their team.”
Thank you and see you on Ibiza in 2017 😉
