International Music Summit Ibiza announces 2017 edition!

IMS, International Music Summit, is one of the most influent festivals worldwide.

Next May will be celebrated in Ibiza  IMS 10th anniversary, and as usual it will be unmissable.

As all the years, IMS presents a program with many important guests, conferneces and events:  2017 edition will take place 24th till 26th May.

So, save the date,  because of the countdown for Ibiza 2017 has started.

The organizers said:”International Music Summit (IMS) is the three-day inspirational and educational platform held annually in the dance music capital Ibiza. A wide spectrum of electronic music industry professionals participate in a series of talks, interactive workshops, intimate networking opportunities, inspiring dinners and club events led by skilled experts, experienced business minds and talented artists.
 
IMS sets out to educate, inspire and encourage the sharing of new ideas and 2017 marks a decade of dynamic change in the sector and provides a theme for this year’s most engaging debates.
 
Founded by electronic music industry’s most respected individuals including Ben Turner, BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong MBE, and Ibiza heavyweights, Danny Whittle, Mark Netto and Simeon Friend, participants and curators alike, they all share a passion for electronic dance music and culture and are invested in shaping its future. The curators invite the most relevant, candid and thought-provoking speakers with participants from all around the world – providing a tangible opportunity to connect and learn.
 
IMS speakers over the decade have included David Lynch, Quincy Jones, Chuck D, P.Diddy plus every major DJ on the planet. The founders of YouTube, Instagram and Twitter have all spoken. Nile Rodgersand Giorgio Moroder made the first Daft Punk collaboration announcement on the stage at IMS. Lynch’s recent music career was revealed at this event in Ibiza. It was the Ibiza delegates who supported IMS partner Ben Turner’s vision to take IMS a step further, to create the much-needed global trade body AFEM: Association for Electronic Music. The annual IMS Business Report also helped measure the global value of electronic music for delegates to use to win deals and, in many cases, sell companies. IMS founding partner Pioneer DJ have also been integral to the event’s success with continued products revealed at the event, and critical industry products like KUVO were conceived from discussions at the IMS Ibiza event.
 
IMS Ibiza takes place during the island’s opening season week, with a multitude of high profile events in iconic venues including Pacha, DC10, Amnesia and Ushuaia featuring the world’s biggest DJs. This year there is a return of the ‘Back2Live’ event – a special and unique showcase that celebrates the crossover between electronic and live music.  There is also the annual IMS Legends Dinner to honor those that have left a legacy on the culture and industry. Previous award winners include Nile Rodgers, Fatboy Slim, Sven Vath, Carl Cox and Pepe Roselló, Founder of Space Ibiza. 
 
Thereis of course a fitting Grand Finale, offering the opportunity to dance in one of the most uniquelocations in the world – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Dalt Villa. Undoubtedly a rare and alternative opportunity to dance on and enjoy the 2500-year-old castle. Previous headliners have included Carl Cox, Solomun, Sven Vath, Rudimental and Pete Tong.“

IMS Ibiza announce the return of ‘BACK2LIVE’, a salute to breakthroughs of the live electronic scene! Free entry at Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza!

As we already wrote, IMS 2016 will take place in Ibiza from next 25th of May till 27th of May.
The International Music Summit since many year is one of the most influent appointment on the white island, and also the 2016’s edition has in store many surprises, as wrote us your friends of Toga Media. Save the date, next 26th of May, starting at 20 till Midnight, at Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza will plays several excellent dj’s and the entry will be free!

“With 3 weeks to go, International Music Summit continue to elevate the innovators of the electronic music industry with ‘Back2Live’, the returning showcase dedicated to breakthrough artists of the live stage. 

Taking place at the base camp of the conference at Hard Rock Hotel on 26^th May, Stimming claims the top of the bill after the release of high-concept album ‘Alpe Lusia’. Recorded in isolation in an Alpine hut away from the world, then performed with the same level of immersion through a 4D sound system, this electronic explorer is known for his live intimacy. Experimentation in sound are the forte of the other selections too, with Sea Bed and Szjerdene also featuring – the former are in no way a house band, neither a strictly House act, and have crafted a string of hook-laden tunes with recent Annie Mac support. 

Bolstering the night with traditional setups still offering the same electronic exploration, come two UK bands – Delamere and Our Future Glory – who bring dance fusions as raucous as a Rock concert, resplendent in anthemic highs and synthesized swells. These high-energy, electronic ensembles promise to deliver a powerful show, with a stage presence that is proof to the ‘Back2Live’ statement. 

With free entry offered to all, other events on the schedule include the incredible Dalt Vila party at the island’s historic UNESCO World Heritage Site, IMS Business Report for 2016 and the prestigious Legends Dinner – with various networking sessions hosted by Ultra Records and Pioneer DJ. This year too the IMS Pioneer Award will make a return, the award previously awarded to long-term manager of industry greats Frankie Knuckles and David Morales Judy Weinstein. 

IMS partner Danny Whittle explains,:”IMS are very excited for this years Back2Live line up, with a real mix of electronica and indie guitar sounds. We really think it’s important to show the links and growth of more live elements within electronic music, and to also give a stage to upcoming new bands to showcase their talents to a very musically aware audience and music industry professionals”.

Ims Ibiza 2016 reveals several important speakers: Carl Cox, Pete Shop Boys, Seth Troxler, Richie Hawtin, Guy Gerber, Nicole Moudaber and many more!

Ims, International Music Summit has announced several important  details for IMS Ibiza 2016’s speakers and industry icons.

IMS since years, represent the “start” of summer season, and also the program for 2016’s edition is amazing. If you want to know the complete and updated list of opening parties, click here.

But now let’s go back to IMS: from the May 25^th – 27^th, the event  is built around a programme of live talks, debates, master classes and parties.

The three-day summit welcomes a massive first reveal of the IMS year with 20 iconic artist and 20 complementary industry leaders announced as speakers for IMS Ibiza at the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza.

IMS Ibiza presents also a rare and important interview from the Pet Shop Boys, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe for The Pete Tong Interview.

The duo will be celebrating a monumental 30 years of making music in 2016, making this interview spotlight a very special appearance for the entire electronic music community.

Another rare public appearance arrives at IMS Ibiza in the form of Swiss electro-pioneers Yello, comprised of Dieter Meier and Boris Blank.

Ben Turner, IMS Co-Founder and Curator, states: “Pet Shop Boys and Yello are both visionary acts that have taken electronic music worldwide with a pioneering, but populist approach. We’re proud to have Chris Lowe, Neil Tennant, Deiter Meier and Boris Blank all in attendance at IMS Ibiza this year. 2016 showcases our biggest list of artist speakers to date for IMS Ibiza, and in addition, our flagship event will also bring some amazing industry icons to introduce the perspective not often heard in our daily working lives.“

Island icons, “King”  Carl Cox and Richie Hawtin – individually responsible for two incredible Space residencies, ‘Music is Revolution’ and ‘ENTER.’ respectively – will also be spotlighted in special interview sessions at IMS Ibiza, that will be unmissable.

Carl Cox will discuss his closing year at Space with club owner Pepe Roselló and his manager Lynn Cosgrave while Hawtin plans to share his insight on the developing realm of music technology.

House legend Erick Morillo returns to IMS Ibiza for a candid discussion with Pete Tong to offer insight from his extensive career and life experiences.

Specifically, Morillo will address the cyclical nature of the music scene and the powerful resurgence he’s now poised to command.

Detroit’s Seth Troxler and Haçienda legend Dave Haslam will host a very special listening session together following the news of Troxler’s purchasing of Haslam’s 4,500 strong record collection in November.

Guy Gerber, who popularized his Rumors party and established it as a staple of the Ibiza party calendar in 2015 is slated to bring valuable insight to IMS Ibiza. Also confirmed for IMS Ibiza are two acts also featured on the IMS Dalt Vila lineup: Italian duo Tale Of Us who will make their speaking debut at IMS and Dubfire ahead of the Ibiza debut of his live HYBRID show.

MOOD Records label boss and the ‘Queen of Dark Techno’ Nicole Moudaber joins the conversation at IMS Ibiza dually as both a worthy speaker and a performer at IMS Dalt Vila. Progressive Radio 1 broadcaster B.Traits will return after bringing her engaging ‘State of Mind’ panel to IMS Ibiza last year that tackled the difficult, but necessary subject of the relationship between dance music and drug use. Fellow BBC Radio 1 DJ and Dance Anthem’s presenter Danny Howard will also make his IMS debut in 2016.

Los Angeles-based Jason Bentley represents the American radio front as the Music Director for the leading Southern California station KCRW. Fellow Prominent promoter behind HARD Presents Gary Richards, also known through his performing alias Destructo, will also represent the West Side of the United States with his IMS debut in 2016.

But there are more surprises: in addition to 20 artists, 20 industry icons spanning across a wide variety of positions within the electronic music scene have been announced as speakers for IMS Ibiza. Ranging from agents and club owners to promoters and journalists, IMS Ibiza continues to pave the way for open conversation for the industry as a whole. Former Universal executive and CEO of the heavily tipped music social network Crowdmix Rob Wells will be speaking amidst plans for the platform’s forthcoming launch in May.

Crowdmix, one of the most buzzed about start-ups in the industry, aims to enable users to develop and enjoy rich social media experiences by joining crowds and communities of like-minded people using music as the link. Already, the platform has built up a team of 160 in its London office.

Kenny Gates, Co-Founder and CEO of one of the world’s leading independent music companies PIAS, will share his insights from over 30 years in the industry. Legendary owner and founder of Space Ibiza Pepe Rosello has been at the helm of the club since its inception in 1989, making him a qualified leader and pioneer of the island. Also speaking is founder of R&S Records Renaat Vandepapeliere, Jacobi Calthorpe, a promoter of the Houskeeping party brand, comedian and internet star Dear Morni, or Austin Gebbia, a witty 20-year old who went viral with his satirical look at the underground music realm on his Instagram, Executive VP of Global A&R at Warner Music Group Bart Cools and many more.

News of this year’s speakers also arrives with the confirmation of regular IMS event details, following the unveiling of the iconic IMS Dalt Vila party that will take place on Friday 27^th of May at the island’s historic UNESCO World Heritage site.
