Nathan Barato (in the picture below) has been one Dj absolutely appreciated during Summer 2013 in ibiza.
He has played many times at Music on, the show of Marco Carola, and his set, sometimes b2b with Leon, were excellent!
For the past 15 years, Nathan has been a favourite in the Toronto
scene.
He began his career rolling with legends like Peter and Tyrone.
In the early years, Nathan’s innate ability to win the crowd
over with his groove scored him gigs at legendary
Toronto nightclubs such as Industry or Mad Bar.
His talent and dedication eventually progressed him into
residencies at The Guvernment, Stereo Nightclub,
and Footwork, as well as his own night, “Weird Science”
at the longstanding and legendary Comfort Zone.
Throughout his career, Nathan has played in cities
throughout North America and Europe, but considers
Toronto his home base.
Nathan has been working hard in the studio and has
completed many recent productions as well as
upcoming releases on labels such as Desolat, Rekids,
Saved, Suara, KD Music!
Ibiza by night met Nathan.. and this is the interview!
IBN:So Nathan, how was your summer in Ibiza?
Nathan: Summer in Ibiza was amazing man…It was life changing and eye opening…I feel very lucky that I was able to have this experience.
IBN: Nathan Barato and Music on: how has started your friendship with Marco Carola and the cooperation with his show?
Nathan: Well I had played with Marco on a few occasions in Toronto and he has always been very supportive of my work and my label, Roots And Wings Music. He is a great guy…very inspirational..I am very happy and lucky to be around such a deeply rooted crew.
IBN: You play in Europe and in north america..which are the main differences when you work in Europe and in Canada?
Nathan: The main difference I’ve noticed is, it seems that the younger generation in Europe have a deeper understanding of dance music.
IBN Let’s talk about Nathan barato.. which are your future projects for next months?
Nathan: Ah man coming up for me I have some dates on the road…South America tour, USA tour….im coming back to Italy for a nice tour there also and planning my first trip to London UK at The Egg..I cant wait!
IBN: Which is your favourite club in the world?
Nathan: Its very hard for me to answer that..especially after being in Ibiza for the summer but I think Stereo in Montreal is number 1 for me. The sound, the size and the vibe are perfect for me.
IBN: And which is your best set in last years?
Nathan: Hah! I am not one to say whether my sets are best or not…after such an amazing year its hard to pick any moment that was greater than any other one…….but I am still thinking about my gig at Footwork in Toronto at the end of August, directly after my return from European summer when I played the beginning of the night to the end of the night…It was something I’ll never forget.
IBN what about your musical production.. are you preparing something new?
Yes, now that I am back in Toronto, I am working very hard in the studio…..working to finish EP’s for Desolat, Mood, Avotre, D-Floor and a single for Mar-T’s label, WOW Recordings…I also have something that Im working on which is quite different for me and a secret I will keep to myself until the time is right haha. Today I just finished a collaboration with one of my favourite artist’s since I began…Green Velvet…it makes me very happy to have had the chance to work with him…It was a very inspiring experience
